Birmingham, Alabama.  Another dull, cool day on tap for Thursday, then warmer on Friday.

Skies remain cloudy across central Alabama this Wednesday night/Thursday morning.  It appears to me that the moist layer will hang around through most of Thursday, and that means we are in store for another rather cloudy day Thursday.  Temperatures may get a little higher than what we experienced Wednesday, but I still expect temperatures to under-perform for the season with highs in most places in the upper 50’s.  We continue to watch an area of rain in Georgia and South Carolina.  The heaviest rain will certainly stay well to our east, but radar is showing some light echoes over central Alabama, and I cannot rule out a few sprinkles, especially over eastern counties.  Skies will at least partially clear later Thursday night into Friday morning, and overall Friday looks like a much more enjoyable day with no worse than partly cloudy skies and temperatures rebounding to the low 70’s. Dry weather will continue Friday night into Saturday, and temperatures once again Saturday will approach 70.  However clouds will be on the increase as a strong cold front approaches and that front will bring us showers and thunderstorms.  There is some question as to when the rain is most likely, but I am still thinking Saturday night.  Behind the front Sunday, it will be windy and quite a bit cooler with highs in the 50’s.
